Upselling for Added Value

So what brings added value to you?

I love dessert. I rarely buy it at the end of a meal. But I genuinely love it. Sometimes I even ask to see the menu because even the descriptions of those sweet treats bring me joy.


Earl and I have a favorite restaurant in Atlanta, and it’s fantastic. It’s not necessarily food that’s so great as much as the concept.


We make reservations and go on Sunday evenings when we are in town. Why Sunday? Because that’s Sunday supper. Sunday supper comes family-style. You choose your favorite entree, and then they bring starters, salad, and vegetables to share. But then there’s the end.


You guessed it, dessert! It’s part of the excellent Sunday Supper plan that includes dessert. It’s the ultimate upsell. Why? Because it brings added value.


I can have a great meal with my loved ones and make very few decisions. I can have the extras without thought of the added cost. I can enjoy every bite of dessert because it not only came as part of the package, but I also consider desserts on Sunday Supper menus to be calorie-free. 😂


They have figured out how to get more revenue from me, yes, and that’s an upsell. But they also make it a unique, rewarding meal that brings me joy and that’s added value.


So find some opportunity to add value to your clients and as a result, you might find an upsell opportunity for yourself.
