Fifty of anything is quite a bit. Think about it. It’s a big number and takes a well-trained mindset for a 50-mile run.
This week on the podcast, Earl and I talk about his upcoming fifty-mile run.
Specifically, we talk about how mindset plays into his training and the run.
Suppose you are going to do hard things or things that make you go, wow! You can benefit from working on your mindset.
The best of things are usually just outside our comfort zones.
It’s not unique that you get nervous about hearing a no on cold calls. A fifty-mile trail run in the mountains seems extreme to almost everyone! Even the ones out there doing it! That’s why they do it. When they complete it, they have accomplished something!
If you choose to work on your mindset, you will be more likely to do the hard things with success.
Comfort zones are just that comfortable and safe. But, comfort zones offer no room for growth.
If you ask anyone that you feel has accomplished extraordinary things, my guess is if they are honest, they battled their mind. They heard the negative self-talk a time or two.
They faced some fears. The difference I’ve seen in those that succeed at hard things is their will to try.
That’s a positive mindset! It’s the push from within to try. The belief that it’s possible.
A negative mindset is usually still fighting to be heard.
You’ll hear Earl talk about how it creeps in on these long runs.
The thing you must remember is to let the positive outweigh the negative. Allow the hope to push you.
You may need to have a friend on speed dial or try listening to music that makes you remember a time you were happy and strong. You can take a break to reset, not to quit but to get a fresh perspective.
Mindset is not something you will work on one time. If you are willing to work on it continually, you will grow and do things you didn’t know you could do! You will make what seems impossible possible!
