Sales and business, in general, require some action. Some of the action required asks you to get out of your comfort zone. It’s easy to send an email, but hard to make a phone call. It’s simple to mail a note and hard to make a cold prospecting call.
The hard things are the ones that risk resistance. Yet, the things that are hard and risk resistance are also the things that will get you quick results and at the end of the day will make you feel like you’ve made progress. The things that you do that require resistance make you sleep better at night and equal higher commission checks.
So how can you push yourself to do what is hard? How about hustle? It’s all about planned hustle, the best kind of hustle.
Can you plan your hustle? Can hustle become an event that moves you forward as opposed to a lifestyle that burns you out?
I’m not talking about the feverous everyday run that feels like you never get a break. I’m not talking about a lifestyle of grind and chasing a never attainable goal. We will leave that to all who carry the mugs and wear the tee shirts labeled “ It’s a grind” and “Living for the weekend.”
This hustle is not an intense daily lifestyle yet an event you plan for and prepare for. Then when the predetermined date arrives, you put yourself into intentional action.
It’s just one day of getting it done. You will plan it like you are planning for a party.
Pick out your best suitable outfit. I recommend professional yet comfortable.
Go to bed early (are you going to risk looking tired at the party). Plan on the guest you want to see at the party. You will plan music you love to get warmed up for the party.
If you are throwing a party, you can’t wait to attend. You are not dreading it.
The day arrives, you are dressed, you are rested, you have a plan, and you can hear the feel-good in the air. Because you are ready and you’ve prepared, it won’t be as easy to say I’ll do it tomorrow. If you had planned a party and guests were invited, would you wake up the day of and say, I’ll do it tomorrow? You will need to face your scheduled day just like the planned party.
Go at your planned day of hustle with enthusiasm and an open mind of possibilities.
Do the calls, the visits, etc., without fear. Instead, go into every activity will be the next best step in a process that can and will take time.
Don’t be quickly disappointed or offended. Don’t take it personally. This is your event, and you should enjoy it.
This is a day you will do all you’ve planned and sometimes more. If you set yourself some goals and reward yourself at each milestone, it will be even better.
Make the things that can seem hard an event you plan for and go into it with an “In it to win it attitude.”
Things that take enthusiasm like cold calls can become fun all-day events if you approach them with a day of hustle type of attitude.
