The year has roughly six weeks left in it. You may be wondering how to close out the year with the best possible sales numbers, still enjoy the holidays, and be ready to go with enthusiasm when the calendar turns to January 2022.
I’ve spent many years trying to get it all done in the last six weeks of the year. I also had mixed results. Some years I would push so hard for sales dollars I couldn’t enjoy the holiday. Some years I would get the number before the holidays but spend too much time worrying about what was coming next to appreciate it.
Here’s my advice for best results based on my experience.
First, don’t worry too much if it seems you are out of new leads until 2022. Instead, focus on the prospects you have already made contact with over the year. Rework your old leads. Reach out to anyone that either hasn’t bought or has bought and might have another need. Spend your time working with those you have some information on and will recognize who you are. This gives you the best chance at a close. You have already built some credibility and trust with them. The sales cycle is shorter than with a brand new prospect.
Next, instead of stressing about the new year, prepare for it. You can prepare now by simply making a list of who you will reach out to in January 2022. It will be helpful if you have names and collect contact information while you are at it. Make this list, and then in January, don’t be tempted to overthink and quit. Realize there is a reason the name came to you, and for best results, you should not let fear or call reluctance hold you back.
Lastly, enjoy your family and every opportunity to make a memory, enjoy a feast, light a candle, or unwrap a gift.
When the thought of what if enters your mind about work, say to yourself, I got this covered! I have done the work. I have worked and closed the best opportunities available to me in the last six weeks of 2021. Plus, I have prepared my plan to excel in 2022. Now I am going to enjoy the here and now while it’s here.
