Vision Board Series Part 5: Now What?

Your Vision Board is Complete; now what?

You’ve marked your calendar, created a vision, developed some goals, made some affirmations, and spelled out your word of the year.

Or maybe you haven’t done any of this, and you are stuck.

What should you do now?

First, think back over 2021 one more time. What things are you grateful for from the year?

What lessons have you learned? Did anything get in your way of progress? If so, was it something you can change in 2022?

If you have a completed vision board, you will use it as often as you need for inspiration.

Are you still having trouble coming up with your vision? Try doing things that inspire you. What activities make you feel hopeful?

For example, I love non-fiction, and I often find inspiration in vintage non-fiction. Just as the world started to hear about the pandemic, I discovered a vintage book, and while it was written in the 1950s, I found comfort and inspiration in the book. It was a reminder to me of what I wanted. It was also clear to me that throughout history, there have been lots of challenges.

There’s nothing new it just feels like it to us because we haven’t experienced it.

The book gave me inspiration and hope. I held on to that and even ordered the rest of her books, and I credit those books to helping me find some joy through a hard time. The books allowed me to see a new vision.

If you have a block around creating a vision, find some inspiration that helps you see things from a different perspective.

You may consider travel, getting out in nature, magazines, or time with family to get some inspiration.

If you have completed your vision boards and goals, or once you have, here are a few suggestions to help you get more from your efforts.

We do not control everything around us, but we have complete control over our minds, heart, and actions.

Realize there are going to be things that get in your way early and often.

But be ready to push through and refocus on what you can control.

Have your affirmations and vision board handy, so you can have that reminder ready of where you want to go, be, and grow.

Protect your vision for your future. If you aren’t sure why an idea appeals to you, it’s okay. You may need some time to completely understand what you love about a particular phrase or photo.

Some parts of vision boards may just be for us to enjoy, and other factors become part of the goals we set for ourselves.

You don’t have to share or explain. You can enjoy the process. When you have developed specific goals, you will want to share them with at least a few close confidants.

There will be times you’ll need a new perspective to get you through the challenges. It’s also great to have a cheerleader as you reach milestones.

Choose goals that you feel will bring you joy. Just because you see something bringing a friend joy doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the path to your happiness.

Think through, try new things, but don’t feel defeated because what works for someone else doesn’t work for you. We are all different and can work together on individual goals but still find joy.

Don’t overthink but instead, enjoy the process. Try to focus on what is in your control. I’m looking forward to 2022, full of joy and crushing goals with all of you.

Here’s to a happy, healthy, and hopeful new year!
