Celebrate

This weekend is my birthday, and I used to think it was a little silly or selfish as an adult to want to celebrate.

Then a few years ago, I saw one of my favorite bloggers plan a birthday weekend away for her and her friends. She even had treat bags for her friends. I realized as adults, we should celebrate more.

The celebration benefits everyone. If you are happier as an individual, you will make others around you happier. That’s not being selfish or conceited at all.

Remember how exciting it was as a kid to go to a friend’s birthday party. We should take every opportunity to celebrate and cherish the good and the sweet things in life.

I found a picture from my 4th birthday. I’m sitting at the kitchen table surrounded by my cousins, and there’s a cake.

I, of course, was wearing a dress because my mom always put me in a dress for special occasions.

Everyone was smiling. It was a party. That’s what we need to do as adults. Celebrate and allow everyone to smile.

It’s not the gifts. It’s the time of happiness, the being together, and a reason for everyone to smile.

As an adult, you can plan your celebration. Just tell the ones you love and enjoy to make sure they set aside time to come spend time celebrating with you. Buy yourself a dress (this year I did, by the way) and just bake a cake or order one. Get out the party hats or balloons and say, “Let’s celebrate!”
