Maybe one of the most challenging things about prospecting is deciding who to reach out to and when.
Our products and services are so excellent everyone wants and needs them. 😄 In fact, they are so wonderful. Why do we need to prospect?
My guest on the podcast Wednesday has many accomplishments in her real estate career.
It’s a great episode as she shares how she’s used vision boards and coaching to create success.
She shared how she used her personality strengths to reach out to and then work with contractors and those looking for investment property.
She knew her strengths but then developed a vision for who she wanted to work with for the greatest success.
I have always done something similar. I know the types of businesses our office equipment best serves, but I also know the types of companies I understand and enjoy working to help.
In both these examples, Jennifer and I narrowed our prospecting efforts for greater success.
We took the time to understand our vision and then drive toward it with purpose. I’ve caught myself at less successful times being less thoughtful with prospecting more scattered. In a lot of cases, I was doing more prospecting, more work but was getting fewer results.
This is a quick way to become discouraged with sales efforts, go out and do a lot of work and come home with little results.
The best way to stay encouraged and push through to success is to develop a vision.
Decide a few things, and the vision will become clear.
1. Who can I best serve or who will benefit the most from the product or service I offer.
2. Looking at this group, who is it easiest for me to work with? Which of these will be a good match for my personality?
3. Based on my experience and knowledge, which of these do I have the experience to help the most?
4. Which of these do I have the most accessible access to?
Once you go through this exercise, you will often start becoming clear on your next steps.
Don’t worry if your group feels small. While in the beginning, you may have felt like I can help everyone, but where do I start? Now, you have a place to start.
This is one of the things we work on in my community. We help cut down the overwhelm and make the steps actionable.
This is also an example of how vision boards can be used in business planning.
You have a wonderful product or service. Now use your unique abilities to help people you can easily relate to and help with those products and services.
When you have an awesome product or service, A vision for success, a narrowed list of who to help first, you are ready to get started on the path to success.
