Marketing and Sales Need Each Other

Social media has made things so easy for those of us who love to learn, grow, and purchase things. So many of today’s influencers are great at getting attention and building a following. I recently had an experience that caused me to pause and think.

I had been following this person for several years. In all the places. I had subscribed to the podcast, hurried to the blog for weekly inspiration.

One week a new program being offered peaked my interest. I sent a DM for more information. This is when I discovered something was missing.

I had followed the advice to reach out if interested. I was interested. I was even excited and watched for a response to my question. But, as the hours turned to days, and then a week. I lost my enthusiasm and even moved on in another direction. I finally received what was an enthusiastic response, but not engaging. I got an answer to my question. Oh, and a link to the website for more information. The link I had already visited, but didn’t answer what I really wanted to know.

This was not a $300 purchase like I had made in the past without any question. Yes, I was even a returning client. This was a program that required what I considered a significant investment of both time and money.

So what was I looking for in a reply? I wanted to be sold on the idea! I wanted to know I would be valued if I chose to make the purchase. I wanted to be engaged with some questions about me and my situation. The questions would allow them to explain to me why what they were offering was the answer I was looking for. Because if they had the answer to the problem I needed solved it would have been worth the money.

When you can show a client you both understand and can help solve their problems money becomes less important. It is of course not unimportant, but not the most important.

Every business needs a process to nurture and close a sale. Marketing is vital, but marketing alone will not close deals.

I even see times like this where great marketing goes to waste without a sales process that completes the cycle.

Maybe your current marketing efforts have developed a lot more interest than you even realize. Are you avoiding doing the sales work? Have you found automation isn’t the answer. Don’t rush to add more marketing.

First, consider either developing the sales skills or hiring a new team member to enhance the marketing process you have developed.

I can help either you or team members develop skills and strategies to make the most of your efforts and increase your results, revenue, and satisfaction in the process.
