We are trying to hold it all together. Our first priority is to keep our family, ourselves, our employees, and community safe. Now, we are trying to find a way to proceed and be as normal as possible. We are under quarantine, and we need to continue to earn a living.
What is Selling?
If you define sales as an exchange of products or services for money? You maybe able to do that now, and maybe not. That would depend on a few things.
- What product or service do you offer?
- Who currently has a need for that product or service?
- Do you have access to those that can receive value from your product or service?
If you instead define sales as a process of building relationships, identifying problems, and solutions, then “yes” you can be selling right now. You can be taking action on items that are part of the sales process.
What If You Aren’t Selling Now
If you choose not to do at least some of the steps required in the sales process right now, then your recovery is going to take longer than is required.
What You Can Do Now
- Identify who has the most need for your product or service now.
- Identify who will have the most need for your product or service in the future.
- Set aside your fears for at least a portion of everyday, and spend that time prospecting.
- Reaching out first to the list who are most likely to have a current need, and then to those with a future need.
- Be genuine, ask good questions, take good notes.
- Develop relationships
- Follow up on a regular basis
