What would you do if you had a whole weekend to yourself?
Last weekend I had the chance to spend the weekend all alone. Earl and the boys took a guy’s trip.
I am not a great planner. Usually, time gets away from me, and I lose track. I sometimes just end up disappointed nothing was accomplished. But, this time was better. I made a list of things I wanted to do and how I wanted to spend my time. I was tempted to have a lot of projects. A few projects were on my list like making a skirt. I worked on my sewing machine so it is working again, but I wasn’t in the mood to create. Lots of things have been going on in my life. So instead of doing a bunch of projects, organizing or cleaning. I decided to put zero pressure on myself.
On Saturday I took a day trip to a beautiful distillery. https://www.castleandkey.com/craft-and-heritage/a-brief-history I had heard how beautiful it was. There was no admission fee to look around and explore the grounds. There was a botanical trail and a beautiful creek to enjoy. The operation was inspired by European architecture and was built in 1887. I loved the buildings and the way nature seemed to wrap around everything there.
I also went to lunch at one of my favorite places. https://www.honeywoodrestaurant.com/ I shopped in bookstores, consignment shops, antique malls, and estate sales. I wasn’t shopping to buy, but instead, I soaked up the inspiration and the ease of the day was much needed.
I spent the weekend going to bed extra early usually by 8:30 pm and sleeping in past 6 am every morning. I spent some extra time with my dad, and we had some meals together.
All in all, it was great! I had 22 items on my want-to-do list and checked 15 off my list as complete! What I didn’t make it to were a couple of projects and a few of my favorite restaurants. I chose to eat at home more than I thought I would.
The weekend was so great. But I’m really glad everyone made it home! I’m blessed I had the opportunity, but I realized what I already knew the people I get to do life with are my greatest blessings.
